Manual boxes are drawn when glare, dirt, an extreme angle, or a foreign plate style defeats the detector. You then follow the plate through the shot and burn mosaic, blur, or a solid into the export so a YouTube upload or a FOIA package does not leak a registration.
This is not a still-image editor. Plates rotate, leave frame, and re-enter. Use a track rather than a single static rectangle unless the camera is locked.

- Track each plate that moves with the car or the camera.
- Export. The cover is written into the release file — we will not help you deblur it later.
Glare, angles, and why tracking beats a sticky rectangle
Parking-lot footage is hostile to detectors: headlights, rain, plates at 45 degrees, trailers that hide half the registration. A static box drawn on frame one drifts off the plate by frame fifty. Tracking keeps the region glued to the metal so the export stays consistent for insurers and records portals that replay the file at full speed.

Why people blur license plates
A plate is an identifier. On YouTube and Instagram, creators cover a parked car so the registration is not a home address. Offline plate blur

- Can I blur a number plate / licence plate the same way?
- Yes. Number plate and licence plate are the same region type. Auto-detect proposes boxes; you can also draw or track the plate. The export burns the mask.
- Is license plate blurring done online?
- No. Detection, tracking, and encode run in the Windows app. We do not offer deblur, and we do not accept uploads.
- What if the detector misses a plate in glare or at an angle?
- Draw a manual box and track it. Manual selection is supported for every plate, not only as a fallback story.
- Should I use one static rectangle for the whole clip?
- Only if the camera and the plate barely move. Moving vehicles need a track so the cover follows the registration through the shot.
- Does blurring a plate hide the driver?
- No. Occupants still need face redaction. Spoken read-outs of a plate need manual audio ranges.
- Why do people blur license plates?
- A readable plate identifies a vehicle and often a household. Creators hide plates on YouTube and Instagram. Agencies hide bystander plates in a public-records release. The release file has to make the characters unreadable.
- Do I have to blur license plates on YouTube or Instagram?
- When the post would publish a private registration that is not the subject, blur it in the file before you upload to the social network. This app does that locally. It does not host the video.
- Can you deblur or unblur a plate?
- No. We do not enhance, deblur, or recover plate characters. The export is meant to stay unreadable.
